Beyond the Bolts: Explore the Inner Richmond
At Fabrix, we love our neighborhood. Our corner of San Francisco’s Inner Richmond district, around Fifth Avenue and Clement Street, bustles with food, drink, shopping, and diversity. And just like we bring you high-quality products at low prices, so do our neighbors. The next time you visit Fabrix to stock up on beautiful, budget-friendly fabrics, take some time to explore these Inner Richmond gems. We are all easily accessible by car or public transit.
Eat & Drink
Blue Danube Coffee House
Grab a coffee, smoothie, or light meal at this popular neighborhood cafe a block away from Fabrix. Large glass windows separate indoor and outdoor tables. They brighten the vibe of this bohemian cafe where friends chat, people work, and dreamers dream on couches and at tables with vintage designs.

Harvest Wheat Field Bakery
Across the street from Fabrix, you’ll find neat rows of self-serve Chinese pastries. One of our favorites is the green tea cake roll, whose soft texture springs to the touch. It’s a perfect stop for a sweet or savory snack or to fuel your fabric shopping.
Location: 559 Clement St.
Taqueria Los Mayas
This casual eatery bursts with color, from its mural to its flavorful Mexican food. It’s also one of the few places in San Francisco where you can order Yucatan specialties such as cochanita pibil, slow-roasted barbecued pork; poc chuc, thinly sliced pork in a citrus sauce; and panuchos, a tostada stuffed with black beans and piled high with meat. They also have vegetarian options.
Location: 331 Clement St.
Wing Lee Bakery
A go-to spot for traditional Chinese baked goods, Wing Lee Bakery is best known for its roast pork buns and flaky curry puffs. Everything is freshly made and priced affordably, making it a favorite among locals.
Location: 503 Clement St.
540 Rogues
The drinks at this bar come with a spritz of history. Nearly 100 years ago, the building housed the Bank of Italy. The tall vaulted doorway and ornate sculpted header remain, but once inside, this bar’s patrons and attractions are an eclectic mix of old school and new. Come for the classic drinks, stay for the arcade games and tall tales about the city we love. Cozy up to a booth and you’ll be sitting on vinyl from Fabrix too.
Location: 540 Clement St.
Scarlet Lounge Bar
This stylish, unpretentious choice a few doors down from Fabrix offers cocktails without the downtown price tag. The chill atmosphere and friendly bartenders make it an ideal spot to unwind after a day of shopping and eating in the Inner Richmond.

Dine Dim Sum
Good Luck Dim Sum
Three short blocks away from Fabrix, Good Luck Dim Sum has room to sit down and enjoy favorites like shrimp dumplings, pork siu mai, and sesame balls—perfect for a satisfying meal before heading home.

Xiao Long Bao
Xiao Long Bao has a takeout vibe so prepare to point at what you want and be whisked down the line to pay. Before you know it, you’ll be the proud owner of an assortment of delicious, dim sum favorites like shrimp rolls, pork buns, and dumplings. On our last visit, we tried the coconut bun for the first time, and we gave it a thumbs up.

Shop
Fleetwood
Three blocks west of Fabrix is a sign in the window that reads, Fresh Tees Printed Daily. And there’s something about it that draws us in like it’s fresh baked bread. This store sells handmade screen-printed sweatshirts, personal care, home, edible, and other goods by local artisans. It’s perfect for that only-from-San-Francisco gift for you, or somebody else.
Location: 714 Clement St.
Green Apple Books
A San Francisco institution since 1967, Green Apple Books is a treasure trove for book lovers. This independent bookstore — with its chockablock, meandering aisles — offers new and used books at reasonable prices. Whether you’re hunting for the latest bestseller, an indie staff pick, or a new-to-you coffee table book, you’re bound to find something special. If you take a car, remember to put the Clement Street location in your GPS and not Green Apple Books on the Park, which is on the other side of Golden Gate Park.
Location: 506 Clement St.
New Lien Hing Supermarket
We discovered this place when rows of pomelos (similar to grapefruits) the size of our heads stopped us in our tracks. Come for the bountiful produce. Stay for the large assortment of Asian snack food. And at these prices, this sweet-and-savory combo is a guilt-free indulgence.
Location: 400 Clement St.
Tantrum
What’s as fun as fabric? Toys! We love this store for its small-business charm and commitment to curating well-made items from around the world. Your kids will love the pure pleasure of their arts, crafts, building block sets, dolls, plushies, and more. There are baby toys and clothes, and wrapping services too, if you need a quick gift.
